Use a Group Code From Your School or Organization

Enter a group code at sign-up to unlock a higher free-tier limit, a shared comment library, and group templates.

Before you start

  • A group code is an 8-character code your school or partner organization gives you. It's not the same as a coupon or referral code.
  • A group code can only be entered while you're creating your account. There's no way to add or change one yourself afterward — see If something goes wrong if you already signed up.
  • If you're on the Pro plan, a group code won't change anything for you — it only raises the free plan's limits.

Enter your group code at sign-up

If your school or organization gave you a sign-up link, just open it. The group code field opens automatically with your code already filled in — skip to the last step.

Otherwise, go to the sign-up page and click Use a group code to open the group code field.

The sign-up form with the 'Use a group code' link expanded to show the group code field

Type your 8-character code. As soon as it matches, the field collapses to Code: XXXXXXXX ✓ and the sign-up card header changes to In partnership with your organization's name.

Code not recognized

If you see "This group code isn't recognised," double-check for typos. If it still doesn't work, contact your school or organization for the correct code.

Finish creating your account with email and password, or continue with Google or Apple, same as any other sign-up. Your group code is applied automatically once your account is created — there's nothing else to do.

What you should see

  • The Usage widget at the bottom of the sidebar shows your group code and a higher Orders and inspections limit than the standard free plan.
  • SettingsSubscription shows a Group code line above the usage meters, naming your code and its limit.
  • TemplatesMarketplace shows a Group Templates section (marked Your Group) above the general All Templates list, with any report templates your organization has shared.
  • Your comment library picks up any comments your organization has shared, alongside the comments you already had.

If something goes wrong

  • "This group code isn't recognised" — the code doesn't match any active partnership. Confirm it with your school or organization; codes are exactly 8 characters.
  • You already have an account and no group code — group codes can only be applied during sign-up, not afterward. Contact support at info@inspectortoolbelt.com with your organization's code and they can apply it to your account for you.
  • Signed up with the wrong code, or no code at all — same as above: support can apply or correct a code on an existing account.
