Using the AI Assistant
Get answers and hands-free help from the in-app AI assistant.
Overview
The AI Assistant is a chat panel that can answer questions about your business, search the help docs, and propose actions for you to review — it never changes your data without your confirmation.
Turning it on
Enable the feature
Go to SettingsPreferences and turn on AI Assistant under Features. The first time you enable it, a disclaimer dialog appears — accept it to continue.
Open the assistant
A sparkles button now appears in the bottom-right corner of every dashboard page. Click it to open the chat panel.
Editing a template or report item
While an item editor is open — for example when you're editing a report or template item — the sparkles button moves to the bottom-left corner so it doesn't sit under the editor's buttons. It still opens the same chat.
The panel keeps a running chat history. Use the history icon to switch between past conversations, the plus icon to start a new chat, and the trash icon to clear the current one.
What it can do
Ask the assistant about your business and it can look up:
- Orders
- Contacts
- Service categories
- Agreement sections
- Automations
- Your profile
It also searches these help docs to answer "how do I…" questions and shows a Sources link under its answer so you can open the article it used.
Proposing actions
Beyond answering questions, the assistant can propose changes on your behalf — creating an Order, creating a contact, creating an automation, or updating an Order's status. When it does, it fills in the relevant form on the page you're viewing and shows a proposal card summarizing what it's about to do.
Every proposal gives you three options:

| Edit | Lets you adjust the form yourself before deciding |
| Dismiss | Discards the proposal — nothing is changed |
Nothing happens without your confirmation
The assistant never creates, updates, or deletes anything on its own. Every proposal sits as a draft until you confirm it.
Editing report text with AI
In the report editor, each comment's rich text toolbar has an AI menu (the sparkles icon) with:
- Make longer
- Make shorter
- Improve writing
- Fix spelling & grammar
Choosing one immediately rewrites the comment text. If you don't like the result, click the undo button that appears next to the menu to restore what you had before.
